Kate Garraway has been left blushing after a garden DIY project turned into a full-blown disaster.
The Good Morning Britain presenter, 58, admitted she only meant to order two tonnes of hardcore for some small garden reconstruction. Instead, she accidentally clicked for 12 tonnes – all of it dumped loose in her driveway, blocking her front door.
In a video filmed by her neighbour, musician Sency Miller, Kate was seen arriving home from work only to find a mountain of rubble stretching across her entire entrance. “Ok, so this is less than ideal,” she told her followers on Instagram, adding that she must have clicked the wrong option.
When Sency asked how she planned to get inside, Kate looked stunned as she gasped, “TWELVE?! Oh god, that’s my mistake. I thought it was going to be a lot less. Seriously, how do I get in?”
Eventually, she had no choice but to throw her bags over the fence before climbing across the pile, with Sency lending a hand. Laughing at herself, she joked: “#shouldhavegonetospecsavers #mypoorneighbours.”
The comic blunder came just after she had dropped her daughter Darcey back at university for her second year. On Instagram, Kate wrote about how “proud” she felt to see her 19-year-old begin a new chapter, even if it left her with “a very empty car.”
From the emotional goodbye to her daughter to being trapped outside her own home, Kate certainly had a weekend of big changes.
